Eckman Construction collected its 5th Excellence in Construction Award from the New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at the organizations’ annual Awards Presentation on October 22nd. Eckman was recognized with a Merit Award for its work on the Living Learning Commons Residence Hall at St. Anselm College in Manchester.

“Our team has been fortunate to complete numerous projects on the St. Anselm College campus over the years and we are proud to have been involved in constructing this new, signature building,” said Preston Hunter, Vice President, Eckman Construction. “The great outcome at the Living Learning Commons is attributed to the efforts of all project team members including the College, designers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. We are delighted with the results.”

The Living Learning Commons is a unique residence hall that fosters an innovative hybrid approach to student housing that blurs the line where academia meets student life. The 47,000 square-foot facility is home to 150 students and it hosts academic events, study groups and even certain class sections. Reflecting the Benedictine tradition of the College with a contemporary yet classic look, The Living Learning Commons provides students a productive and enriching living-learning environment.

Design services on the project were provided by Lavallee Brensinger Architects of Manchester, NH and JSN Associates of Portsmouth, NH. TFMoran of Bedford, NH provided civil engineering services on the project.
