Project Description

New Hampshire was the last of the 50 states to receive a federal Job Corps Center, but in October of 2015, the NH Job Corps Center in Manchester officially opened.

The seven buildings that make up the new campus include dormitories with 268 beds, a gym/recreation facility, classrooms, a dining hall, and an administration and wellness center. The program is designed to serve people 16-24 years old, who will spend an average of eight months earning their high school diploma or GED while also preparing for a career. The center features career path tracks that include hospitality, culinary arts, skilled nursing and advanced manufacturing.

Before our team could begin building, we had to remove substantial amounts of ledge from the site. Challenging site conditions and project sequencing for seven buildings took extremely careful coordination to stay on schedule. The end result is a facility, backed by the United States Department of Labor, that will help students carve out a meaningful career.

The NH Job Corps Center has won the 2016 Chairman’s Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC-NH/VT), which recognizes the project as the top construction project in the region. It’s an incredible honor for Eckman Construction.
